By the efforts of the Golestan Medical Students’ Association (GouMSA), member of International Federation of Medical Students’ Association (IFMSA), and help of the international affairs committee of Golestan University of Medical Sciences (Goums), Standing Committee on Professional Exchanges (SCOPE) has been activated. SCOPE provides students with opportunities to experience new cultural and educational environments by Uni/Bilateral exchanges for a one-month-long rotation.
The International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations was one of the numerous international student organizations set up directly after the end of the Second World War. IFMSA has always focused on student mobility and exchange as well as conference and workshop organization. The Standing Committee on Professional Exchange (SCOPE) was founded in 1951 and is one of the first standing committees within IFMSA. The SCOPE exchange program is a quality educational and cultural experience organized entirely by medical students with the help of their medical faculties. Annually, around 13.000 students from more than 90 countries travel around the world to discover new health systems, new cultures and to enhance their global health and intercultural understanding.
We would like to thank our students, Iman Attackpour, Behnaz Rahati and Mehdi Shabani for their efforts in activating the SCOPE. Golestan University of Medical Sciences will be ready for the professional exchange of students in April.
