Abstract

Background & Objective: Myocardial infarction is one of the most common coronary artery diseases. One of the educational needs of patients, is how to perform sexual activities. Unfortunately, this issue is not being taught to patients, leading to problems in patients and their partners. This study was aimed to determine the effect of sex education on patients and their spouses› satisfaction after myocardial infarction. Method: This Quasi-experimental, non-randomized study was performed on 60 patients with myocardial infarction and their spouses in the city of Yazd whom were divided into two groups of experimental and control (60 in each group),in the year 1392. The main method of this study was the education and preparation of nurses and then educating patients by trained nurses and to assess sexual satisfaction based on the standard Larson›s questionnaire. The data were then statistically analyzed using SPSS version 16 using paired, independent t-test. Results: The average sexual satisfaction of patients in the experimental group before the intervention was 81.93 ± 12.47 and after the intervention 82.50 ± 12.57 While in the control group before the intervention the average satisfaction was 83.10 ± 17.36 and after 6 weeks 75.30 ± 15.42. Also the mean sexual satisfaction of partners in the test group before and after the intervention was 81.30 ± 12.47 and 82.07 ± 12.28 respectively. In the control group before the intervention, the average score was 82.50 ± 17.21 and after intervention it was 74.57 ± 15.30. There was significant difference between patients and spouses› sexual satisfaction scores in the experimental and control groups before and after the intervention (P=0.001). Conclusion: Sex education increased the sexual satisfaction among the tested group. Therefore, it is suggested to include programs in order to prepare nurses in terms of sex education of patients and their spouses in cardiac intensive wards.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Job satisfaction Increases individual efficiency and commitment to the organization, ensuring the physical and mental health, life satisfaction and accelerate the learning of new skills on the job. The aim of this study was to determine the status of health professionals› satisfaction in the Golestan province. Method: In this cross- sectional study, 1,275 health workers of Health centers in the Golestan province in the year 1391 were participated using the census method. Data was collected using Herzberg job satisfaction questionnaire. The data were analyzed using SPSS software, ANOVA and t-Test at the significant level of 0.05. Results: Job satisfaction in terms of staff maintenance and support and given the potential and experience of individuals in granting liability were at dissatisfied level, In terms of corporate communications, career development, salary and benefits, challenges and job management, at relatively dissatisfied and from the aspect of social acceptance level was at relatively satisfied. Job satisfaction was significantly associated with work experience (P=0.049), ethnicity (P=0.009) and city of service location (P=0.001). Conclusion: Due to poor job satisfaction levels, effective actions should be taken to improve organizational communication, career development, salary and benefits, social acceptance, staff maintenance and support, management, Job challenges, and granting responsibilities based on the ability and experience of the individuals.

Abstract

Background and Objective: Obtaining the means of promoting nursing care quality have been always considered by nursing managers. The present study was conducted to determine the relationship between nursing care quality and patients satisfaction in the hospitals affiliated to Zahedan University of Medical Sciences in 2014.

Methods: The present cross-sectional study was accomplished on 68 employed nurses and 204 patients during a 4 month random sampling time interval. Three patients per nurse who had utilized at least 72 hours of nursing cares and were about to discharge at the time of research were chosen. Data collection tolls were the standardized questionnaires including nursing care quality measurement tool (Quality patient care scale: QUALPAC) and Patient Satisfaction Instrument (PSI). The data were analyzed using Chi-square, One-Way ANOVA and Pearson correlation coefficient tests.

Results: The average age of the nurses and patients were respectively 30.8±4.9 and 37.9±10.7. The average score for QUALPAC was 61.3±12.5 and the quality of care was desirable in 55% of cases. Moreover, the average score for the satisfaction of patients was 71.8±10.9 and the patients expressed an intermediate satisfaction in 61 percent of cases. There was a positive significant correlation between the nursing care and patient satisfaction (P=0001).

Conclusion: It seems as if the health care system can provide the satisfaction of patients by enhancing nursing care quality or to employing more skilled nurses.

Abstract

Background: Marital satisfaction (MS) is a multidimensional concept related to the individual characteristics of couples, the dynamics of inter-spousal relationships, and intergenerational attachments. We aimed to determine the predictive model of marital satisfaction in breastfeeding primiparous women based on demographic information.
Method: This descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study was conducted between August and November 2015 on 160 primiparous breastfeeding women with full-term, healthy, singleton infant who had been referred to the health centers of Babol, north of Iran, for the two-month vaccination. The research samples were selected using the convenience sampling method among ten centers in Babol, selected randomly through a lottery. They completed the demographic information form and the Persian version of the 47-items Enrich's marital satisfaction scale (EMS) in a self-report manner. The obtained scores were converted into scale scores (0-100). Data were analyzed using SPSS (version 16) with descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, frequency) and inferential statistics (Student's t-test, ANOVA and Stepwise Multiple regression tests) at a confidence level of 0.05. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapirovilk tests were used as appropriate.
Results: The means± SD marital satisfaction score of breastfeeding primiparous women was 86.05±12.91 (High Level). The three variables of spouse's education (X1), Spouse participation in housework (X2), and age of marriage (X3) were able to predict the level of marital satisfaction (using the formula Y = 33.89 + 2.02 X1 + 4.17 X2 + 0.40 X3). There was no relationship between marital satisfaction with age, spouse's age, employment status, spouse's employment status, education, type of delivery, type of marriage, income, and housing status.
Conclusion: The increase in spouse's education, spouse's participation in the home, and marriage age were associated with higher marital satisfaction. Based on the three mentioned variables, the prediction model obtained can be used to estimate the marital satisfaction of breastfeeding primiparous women.

Abstract

Background: Body image studies confirm a higher level of dissatisfaction among women compared to men, and some evidence shows that ethnicity may have a role in the level of body image fear.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, the data of 372 Fars and Turkmen women visiting health care centers in Gonbad, Iran, were collected via convenience sampling and analyzed by SPSS v. 17. The instruments were a demographic checklist and Littleton's Body Image Concern Inventory.
Results: The level of fear of body image between Fars (M = 2.022, SD = 0.685) and Turkmen (M = 2.1408, SD = 0.661) ethnicities was not statistically different (P-value = 0.09) based on the t test. Furthermore, age, education level, and internet usage were significantly related to the variable of fear of body image.
Conclusion: The role of ethnicity in the fear of body image is not statistically significant and needs further research.
