Abstract
Background and Objective: In many countries, especially in developing countries, diarrheal diseases is one of the most important causes of mortality. In these countries, due to availability transfer conditions of parasitic infections, (pathogenic and non-pathogenic parasite), have a high prevalence. This study aimed was determining the prevalence of Parasites causing diarrhea in Gorgan .
Material and Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 1086 Patients with acute diarrhea. The test was performing by the wetmount and formalin-ether concentration method according to WHO protocol.
Results: From 1086 patients in study, 197 (18.1%) were infected by intestinal parasites, that 141 (13%) were infected with Protozoan and 79 (7.27%) were infected with intestinal worms. The prevalence of wet mount method was, Entamoebahistolytica in 69 (6.4%), Giardia lamblia in 27 (2.5%), Entamoeba coli in 15 (1.4%), Chilomastixmesnili in 8 (0.7%), and with formalin-ether method was Hymenolepis nana in 26 (2.4%), Trichostrongylus in 16 (1.5%), Enterobiusvermicularis in 10 (0.9%).
Conclusion: The high prevalence of Entamoeba histolytica, is indicating protozoan importance as a cause of acute diarrhea.

Background and Objective: Ochratoxin is a fungal toxin produced by Penicillium verrucosum and some Aspergillus species. Ochratoxin is usually found in grains, cereal products and also animal feed of livestock. The aim of this study was to measure the level of Ochratoxin in pasteurized milk samples of Golestan Province, Iran.
Methods: Overall, 38 milk samples were collected from East and West of the Golestan province in accordance with standards 326 and 419 of the Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran. The level of Ochratoxin was measured by ELISA method.
Results: The mean level of Ochratoxin A in 20 raw milk samples collected from the West of the Province was 3.32 ± 3.76 ng/ml. The mean level of Ochratoxin A in 18 raw milk samples collected from the East was 6.02 ± 4.42 ng/ml. Ochratoxin A levels in most samples were higher than the limits established by the European standards.
Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, Ochratoxin level of 84.2% and 52.6% of the samples from the West and East of the province are higher than the allowed limits (2 ng/ml), respectively.

Abstract
Background and objectives: Aspergillosis is a widely distributed infectious disease, which is difficult to manage. According to recent studies, the prevalence of resistant Aspergillus fumigatus has increased from 3.3% to 6.6%. Acquired triazole resistance in Aspergillus species is an evolving global health challenge, which has made the control of diseases caused by Aspergillus a concern. This study was performed to investigate prevalence of azole resistance in Aspergillus isolates from environmental samples.
Methods: In this study, 316 soil samples were collected from three hospitals and a university campus in Gorgan (Iran) from July to September 2017. Two grams of each sample were suspended in 5 ml of 0.2M NaCl with 1% Tween 20. Then, 100 µl of the suspension was plated on sabouraud dextrose agar (SDA) supplemented with chloramphenicol, SDA supplemented with chloramphenicol and voriconazole (VOR, 1 mg/L) and SDA supplemented with chloramphenicol and itraconazole (ITC, 4 mg/L). The plates were incubated at 37 °C and examined for growth after 24, 48 and 72 hours.
Results: We detected Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus nidulans isolates in 187(59.2%), 84(26.6%), 147(46.5%) and 65(20.6%) samples, respectively. We found no VOR resistant isolate. However, 21 (25%) A. flavus and 16 (8.6%) A. fumigatus isolates were intermediate for VOR. In addition, seven (8.3%) A. flavus, 68 (36.4%) A. fumigatus, 41 (27.9%) A. niger and three (4.5%) A. nidulans isolates were resistant to ITC.
Conclusion: We were able to detect A.fumigatus, A. flavus, A. niger from all four sampling sites in Gorgan, North of Iran. A. fumigatus is the most prevalent and most resistant isolate in the studied area. History of previous agriculture activity and use of pesticides in the proximity of sampling sites may have affected the rate of ITC resistance.

Abstract
Background and objectives: Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is the most toxic aflatoxin produced by a large number of Aspergillus species. Successful detoxification of this toxin is an important attempt to improve community health. The aim of this study was to evaluate reducing effects of yeasts isolates from kefir and traditional kefir-like fermented beverages on AFB1 in a broth medium.
Methods: Polymerase chain reaction-sequencing was carried out to identify the yeast isolates from kefir and kefir-like beverages. Effects of the isolates on AFB1 adsorption and biotransformation in peptone dexterose broth medium were evaluated by using high performance liquid chromatography.
Results: Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Kluyveromyces marxianus were isolated from kefir and kefir-like beverages and resulted in 46% and 53% AFB1 adsorption, respectively. The isolates 27Y and 2Y caused 7% toxin biotransformation, while 10% toxin biotransformation was achieved by the isolate 18Y.
Conclusion: Our results indicate that the yeast isolates from kefir and traditional kefir-like products can bind to and detoxify AFB1, thereby reducing its harmful effects.

Background: Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is one of the most important mycotoxins that contaminate food worldwide. Long-term consumption of foods contaminated with AFB1 endangers human health. Detoxification of AFB1 from food improves community health. A Specific approach to aflatoxin reduction is the use of probiotics. Kefir drink is a strong probiotic. The purpose of this study was to investigate the protective effect of kefir drink on AFB1-induced hepatic injury in adult male rats
Methods: In this experimental study, 24 adult rats weighing between 150 and 200 g were used. The rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: 1) control, 2) AFB1 (50 μg/kg body weight), 3) kefir drink (10 mL/kg body weight), and 4) AFB1 + kefir drink. Aflatoxin and kefir drink received through oral gavage. At the end of the experiment (8 weeks), blood and liver samples were collected for different assays. Liver function tests and histopathological examinations were performed. Data were analyzed using 1-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and at a significance level of <0.05.
Results: Aflatoxin B1 significantly increased serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and total bilirubin (T.Bili), as well as decreased total protein (T.P) content, compared to the control group (P < 0.05). Aflatoxin B1 induced histological changes in the liver. The results obtained from the groups treated with kefir drink with and without AFB1 were not significantly different from the control group. Histopathological changes were not found in groups treated with kefir drink with and without AFB1.
Conclusion: The consumption of kefir drink reduced AFB1-induced disruptions in rats’ livers.
