►History
Since the establishment of the faculty of medicine in 1992 until 2009, department of physiology has started its activities collaboration with pharmacology department under the title" department of physiology and Pharmacology". Thereafter, with the increase of faculty members, it’s been separated from pharmacology and continued its activities independently. Now, it is managed by 4 members including 2 associate professors and 2 assistant professors. There is also a laboratory expert with MSc degree in biology.
►Introduce of physiology
Physiology is one of the most important branches of biology, which is divided into various sub branches, including medical physiology (human). Medical physiology is one of the most necessary fundamentals and basic knowledge in medical sciences that deals with the study of precise understanding of the performance mechanism of various body systems at cellular-molecular levels.
►Goals and Missions

- . Field of teaching: Teaching physiology to medical students is done at the basic sciences course before entering the clinical arena enables the medical student to introduce new and effective therapies for patients in pathological state using learned knowledge on mechanisms of different body systems in physiological conditions.
- Field of research: Doing research in various experimental and clinical neurophysiology fields and gastrointestinal physiology through cooperating with neuroscience and digestive research centers using of available laboratory research settings, including electrophysiological recording systems from ion single-channel of the cell membrane, isolated tissue and.......
- Scientific guidance and counseling for the thesis of the medical, masters and Ph.D. students in different fields of the basic sciences
