The
lab was opened in 1374 with just an expert. Initially, due to lack of
manpower only certain tests were conducted on food, but gradually the
laboratory work expanded by increasing the number of personnel.
Currently, the laboratory has taken effective steps to improve the food
safety and health and beauty products.
The laboratory is located at the
Central building and composed of 4 parts:1-Sample reception unit2- Chemistry unit3-Department of Microbiology4-Analysis unitIn addition to study on sent samples, the laboratory provides expert opinion on manufacturing license rules, consistency of rules with national standards and determination of eligibility of supply and consumption of the tested materials
Laboratory responsibilities1-Conducting physico-chemical and microbiological tests on food, health and beauty products
2- Sanitary control of raw materials and products produced in factories and workshops which are in compliance with the latest legislation
3-Monitoring food, health and beauty products imported into the country through customs and compliance them with the latest national standards and adopted criteria of the Ministry of Health
4-training of apprentices and technical managers of manufacturing factories
5-Monitoring and enforcement of regulations and standards for operating licensing, checking the eligibility of associated laboratories and manufacturing factories
6-Conducting research projects in coordination with the deputy of research as well as scientific research centers
7-Examining the new methods of quality control on food, cosmetics and health products and updating the scientific information available at the laboratory
8- Formulating and updating the necessary SOPs
9- Participation in national projects (PMS, PRPS)
