What is your responsibility, against your health, your family and community health?
With respect to the following recommendations, take care of your health and your family health
Healthy diet, weight control, increased physical activity and regular exercise program are among the basic rules in order to prevent hypercholesterolemia.
What food should be eaten less?
Reduce fat intake, especially saturated fat and cholesterol is one of the principles of proper diet in the prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases.
High-fat dairy products (milk, yogurt, cheese, etc.) should be replaced by low-fat ones.
Less use of top milk and cream, these foods contain large amounts of animal fat and can lead to increased blood cholesterol.
Use low-fat meats instead of high-fat meats and remove visible fat from meat before cooking. Pre-cook the chicken, remove its skin.
Reduced consumption of red meat and instead of that use white meat like chicken and fish  
Cooking your foods in liquid oils like olive oil, canola oil or sesame oil (For baking, rather than frying)
Don't use hydrogenated fats.
Prepared foods such as pizza, sausages, hamburgers, fries (fried potatoes, chips, etc.) contain large amounts of fat. Limit the consumption of these foods.
Use less cream cake and fatty sauces such as mayonnaise. By mixing low-fat yogurt, lemon juice, vinegar or citrus juice, a little salt and pepper, aromatic herbs and olive oil you can prepare healthy and tasty salad at your home.
Head and legs, brain, heart and kidneys contain lots of cholesterol. Limit the consumption of these foods.
Dietetic white dressings are better than ordinary ones: One tablespoon of them produce 50 kcal of energy in the body, even people with high cholesterol can eat very low levels of these sauces
If you are suffering from cardiovascular disease, high blood lipids, high blood pressure and obesity or have a family history of this disease, limit the consumption of egg yolks to 3 to 4 per week, either in the food or by itself. Using egg albumen is not an issue.
What foods should be eaten more?
Increase consumption of fruits and vegetables in the daily diet, Fresh fruits and vegetables are full of vitamins and minerals and antioxidants which reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Among them dark green leafy vegetables and yellow, orange and red fruits are very important
Daily plans should contain plenty of milk and dairy products. Calcium found in milk and dairy products can reduce bad cholesterol and increase good cholesterol. Calcium requirements can be achieved by daily consumption of two glasses of skim milk, one cup of low-fat yogurt or other low-fat dairy products such as cheese and curd.
Use of whole grains such as barley bread, Sangak bread, Barbari bread and other breads prepared with whole wheat flour
Increase intake of fiber in your foods. Beans, various vegetables such as carrots, beets, lettuce, celery, types of cabbage and wholegrain foods that are rich in soluble fiber, reduces bad cholesterol
Soybean and its products can reduce blood cholesterol levels.
Garlic and onion are effective in lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels
Improve good nutrition habits in your family:
Always put the salad dish on the table, as a result the entire family can consume it. Salad can be prepared each time with a variety of different vegetables.
Eating vegetables along with meals is one of the good eating habits among Iranians.
If you go to work every day, be sure to take amount of washed fruits with you. Replace a healthy snack instead of biscuits or sweets which may have undesirable fats.
Prepare fruit and healthy sandwich for children and other family members, who are out of the house in the morning, Hunger outdoors may lead to intake of improper foods, fast food and street food which are often greasy, unhealthy and detrimental to health. When purchasing food check the label to determine the amount and type of its fat.
When you go to a restaurant or order a meal from the restaurant, ask not to put butter or margarine on your food. If children are not obese, since they are more active they can eat fatty food
High blood pressure and Hypercholesterolemia have no symptoms. Therefore, you should regularly check your blood pressure and cholesterol.
