The nineteenth meeting of the Strategic Committee for Internationalization of Golestan University of Medical Sciences was held on 11 June of this year in the field of education with the presence of committee members.   Dr. Nafiseh Abdollahi, Secretary of the University Internationalization Committee, emphasized that the Internationalization Committee should be formed with the aim of integrating international affairs in the university and the vision of this committee covers all areas of the university and now the university needs to meet the English site that significant measures in this regard have been taken by the English system promotion team of the university and the information technology department of the university.

Dr. Fazel, President of the University, together with Dr. Mizbani, Inspection Department of the Ministry of Health for the second time after the flood, visited the process of providing health services in the flooded areas. During a visit to Aq Qala Hospital, Dr. Fazel said in an interview with the university's website: "80 percent of the capacity of the beds in Aq Qala hospitals is intended to be ready to serve the victims." He said: "Fortunately, we do not have any shortage in terms of the specialized medical and pharmaceutical team, and the health care providers are providing services with strength." Dr. Fazel, President of the University, while visiting the field hospitals of the Revolutionary Guards and the Army, described the process of providing services of these hospitals to the victim was very satisfactory and said: "The cooperation of the Armed Forces in the field of health is excellent and has been well received."

A crisis management meeting is being held in the presence of the university's crisis management team at the Gonbad Special Governorate I consider it is my duty, deeply sympathize with people of Aq ghala, Gomishan and Gonbad. The President of Golestan University of Medical Sciences said in this meeting: Dr. Fazel added: "In the field of health in the province, we have worked with the people until the end of this flood crises so that at least a little of the people's suffering in the field of health is reduced." The deputy governor and special governor of Gonbad city also said: "Fortunately, thanks to God, despite the heavy floods, we did not have a single case of casualties in Gonbad city." Mr. Karimi added: "With the efforts of our dear people and proper management of the city's crisis management team, we were able to control the flooding from the city within 48 days, except for the police stereet, Arvandrud and Imam Reza streets in which after 72 houres all area of the city was cleared of water. The director of Gonbad Health Network also provided a complete report on the performance of the city's crisis committee. Dr. Badiei said: 13 areas in the city were flooded and emergency accommodation was planned in four parts of the city. He added that the population affected by the floods in the city was 57,000 in the city and 29,000 in the rural area. Dr. Badiee stated: The cases of diarrhea in the city were controlled and the colleagues of the prevention and environmental health units worked 24 hours a day, and the colleagues of the hospitals also cooperated very well in this field.

In a letter, Dr. Saeed Namaki, Minister of Health, and Medical Education, praised Dr. Fazel and his colleagues in the relevant fields of health care for their sincere and unwavering efforts to reduce the damage caused by the Golestan floods. However, the significant increase in precipitation since the beginning of the Iran’s New Year in some provinces of the country, especially Golestan province, has created serious problems for compatriots due to floods and river overflows. Your sincere and unwavering efforts of Your Excellency and your esteemed colleagues in all relevant areas of health care to reduce the damage caused by this natural disaster were evident in my visit to those areas and meeting with the affected people. Therefore, I would like to express my gratitude and thanks to you for the readiness, sincerer efforts and active presence of your Excellency, deputies, managers and all colleagues and those involved in serving the injured compatriots, and I ask God Almighty for you and your colleagues more success.

The International Congress of New Cancer in the presence of prominent professors from China, Italy and France began with a speech by Dr. Fazel, President of Golestan University of Medical Sciences, in the Social Hall of the Falsafi Educational Complex. While welcoming and congratulating the audience and sympathy with the flood victims, the president of the university presented a report on the scientific and research situation of the university in the field of cancer. He added; currently, 120 foreign students are studying in the Faculty of International Campus of the University in different fields of medicine He continued; the incidence of gastrointestinal and lung cancer has increased somewhat in the last decade, and fortunately esophageal cancer, which once upon on time was the center of this type of cancer in the world, has decreased. The president of the university clarified; very good measures have been taken in the field of cancer diagnosis and treatment in Golestan in recent years. The president of the university stated that breast cancer screening is being carried out in three cities of Gorgan, Gonbad and Aliabad, and on this basis, mammography in Gonbad and CT scan has been launched in Aliabad Katoul. He added; there is a good relationship with the benefactors in the discussion of treatment and palliative support, and we appreciate and thank these loved ones. He concluded by saying that the purpose of the congress was to educate people about cancer prevention and treatment. It is worth mentioning that the International Congress of New Cancer and Gastrointestinal Cancer is being held in Golestan from the 1st to the 3rd of May 2019 with the presence of prominent European and foreign professors.

 Dr. Mohammad Naeemi Tabiee, Deputy Director of Management and Resources Development and Executive Secretary of the International Congress of Gastrointestinal Cancers in Golestan Province, in an exclusive interview with the website of the University, said that the International Congress of Gastrointestinal Cancers, this congress will be hosted by Golestan University of Medical Sciences in 3 days from the 11th to the 13th of May. He added; the latest findings on early detection and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers are being discussed by domestic and foreign philosophers at the congress. He continued; the congress is attended by 200 cancer specialists from four countries: China, France, Italy and Canada, as well as participants from different provinces of the country. The Executive Secretary of the Congress stated; among the research papers submitted to the Congress Secretariat, 8 papers will be presented as lectures and the rest as research posters. Dr. Naeemi also spoke about the positive effects of this congress for the province's doctors; More than 150 physicians from the province specialize in gastroenterology, radiology, pathology, surgery and cancer surgery, radiotherapy and hematology and oncology all of them at the congress have an active presence.

Dr. Reza Malekzadeh, Deputy Minister of Research and Technology of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education at the International Congress on new advance Cancer and Gastrointestinal Cancer, hosted by Golestan University of Medical Sciences, with the presence of international professors said: Golestan province has started since year 2000 and is one of the research studies that will continue until the next twenty years, and we can say that it is the largest study of Cohort in the Middle East. He added, "Currently, we are conducting these studies throughout Iran, the initial core of which has started from Golestan province. We would like to thank the professors and faculty members of Golestan University and the people of the region for their worthy cooperation". He said that international scientific cooperation is one of the methods that can be introduced to the world, adding that effective international cooperation with the world countries has been done in the discussion in Cohort studies of cancer and its findings. Dr. Malekzadeh continued that studies conducted before the revolution in Golestan region showed the highest prevalence of esophageal cancer in this region, but fortunately after the revolution, with the improvement of the economic and social situation of the people, esophageal cancer significantly decreased in Golestan. He mentioned low consumption of vegetables, hot tea and drinks, lack of oral hygiene, opium consumption and air pollution as causes gastrointestinal cancer and said that by performing some interventions and observing hygienic principles, can be largely helpful in prevention of GI cancer. The Deputy Minister of Research and Technology of the Ministry of Health continued; 50,000 people are under continuous research studies in Golestan Cohort studies. He also stressed that, unfortunately, 5% of the world's opium is consumed in Iran, and 20% of people over the age of 40 consume opium for entertainment, which plays a significant role in the spread of gastrointestinal cancer. It is worth mentioning that the International Congress of recent advance Cancer and Gastrointestinal Cancer is being held in Golestan from the 11th to the 13th of Ordibehesht with the presence of prominent European and foreign professors. * Cohort studies of Cancer (study based on long-term cancer population is going on in Golestan province).

Coordination meeting to set up a branch of a strong institution (Child Protection Institute with congenital anomalies) in Golestan province with the presence of Dr. Fazel, President of the University and deputies, professors, specialists and subspecialists in pediatrics and members of NGO for health of Golestan Province, Dr. Delshad and Mr. Taheri from the Mohkam Foundation and Mr. Kolahan, Chairman of the Mashhad NGO for healthl and Mr. Heydarian, Chairman of the Women's Participation Council of the Khorasan RazaviNGO for Health, Dr. Zahmatkesh, Chairwomen of the Women's Social Partnerships Council of the Golestan Province NGO for Health Was set up. In this meeting, clergyman Mr. Livani, Chairman of NGO for health of the Golestan province spoke about the role of Non-Governmental Organizations in the field of health and presented a report on the actions taken by the NGOs for Health of Golestan Province. Dr. Delshad, a specialist in pediatric surgery spoke about the activities of the Foundation and the problems of these children and their families. He said: "So far, 6,000 children have been covered and operated in this foundation since 2005, and over 40 types of Newborn abnormalities have been providing medical support".  Dr. Fazel, President of the University, also referred to the history of establishment of this university by the great late person Mr. Mohammad Taghi Filsafi and welcomed the establishment of Mohkam branch of the institute in this area and considered it a blessing for the people of this province. Following the meeting, Mr. Kolahan presented articles on the foundation, setting up the branch and appointing members of the board of trustees and their role in the branch and the process of providing services to children with congenital anomalies. Clergyman Rahbarof Aq Qala city Friday Prayer, also thanked the presence of the Mohkam Foundation (Tehran) and Mashhad Health Benevolent Council in this province, especially the city of Aq Qala, for helping these children and called for the active participation of charities in this area. In the end, it was decided to set up an office in Al-Jalil Hospital in Aq Qala city to start the activities of this institute.

Director of statistics and information technology of the university Announcing this news and added: considering the leading position of Golestan province in the projects of establishing electronic health records at the national level, monitoring and managing the information production of the health system is mandatory. He mentioned: "In this regard, the experts of this management in a joint meeting with the technical staff of the Bureau of Statistics and Information Technology of the Ministry of Health examined, analyzed and setting up the university's SSM system".

Dr. Alijan Tabarai, a member of the faculty of Gorgan University of Medical Sciences and president of the Iranian Virology Association, said: "We have made advance progress in the fighting against hepatitis." He said on the Khabar news program: "Hepatitis is an inflammatory disease that progresses to cirrhosis and liver cancer by liver involvement or cell enlargement.”Viral and non-viral agents have been implicated in the development of the disease, with a greater role for viruses, especially hepatitis B and C". He added that effective measures have been taken in line with the World Health Organization (WHO) to address the slogan of the year, which is an investment by countries to eradicate hepatitis. While emphasizing the importance of strengthening public education and the development of postgraduate education, he added: "It is necessary to create the necessary structures for the diagnosis, screening, control and treatment of hepatitis by relying on the use of specialized staff and young human capital in virology and clinical fields". World Hepatitis Day (July 28 coincides with August 6) is named in honorable birth Day of Dr. Baruch Samuel Bloomberg, the winner of the Nobel Prize in Medicine due to discovery of the hepatitis B virus (HBV) in 1967.

The President of Golestan University of Medical Sciences issued a message on the occasion of Physician's Day. The text of Dr. Fazel's message is as follows:      In the name of God Physicians are one of the main social assets of the society, and the protection of their endeavor is an appreciation of the efforts and initiatives of the elites who, despite shortcomings, they selflessly serve the honorable people of the province. Precisely, the model of Iranian ethical physicians is philosopher & scientist Avicenna, who is confirmed by the world for his unique role in the development of this profession. In the great sage thought, a patient's smile and a gift of health to the people have a great reward where all the sufferings and hardships of the medical profession are relieved, and today is an appropriate time to appreciate the sincere Physicians who inherit this great sage Avicenna's birthday. In addition thanking them for all their efforts in the field of health, education and treatment, I would like to appreciate them for their efforts in growth and development, as well as for teaching and training the sacred medical profession knowledge. I hope that the precious blessing of health will always be the light of life for these loved ones and their respected families.  

The president of Golestan University of Medical Sciences said: ‌ According to the latest statistics published by deputy of Ministry of Health in research, Golestan is not among the 7 provinces of the country's cancer pole. Dr. Fazel stated in a press conference with the media: Currently, the prevalence of cancer in the world is 210 to 230 person per 100 thousand population, but this statistic in our country is 140 person per 100 thousand of population. He pointed out that shortage of 3,000 hospital beds in the province.  He added: "During the president's visit last year, the construction of four hospitals in Golestan was approved, which due to Flood in this province caused the funds to be allocated later". Dr. Fazel stated: This week, 11.5 billion Tomans(Iranian currency) will be allocated for Gomishan 96-bed hospital, 18.5 billion Tomans for Galikesh 96-bed hospital, 6.5 billion Tomans for Ramian 96-bed hospital and 28.5 billion Tomans for the first phase of 600-bed hospital, named Ayatollah Taheri in Gorgan was announced. He noted: "Three plots of land have been proposed in Shastkola, Meydan Tir(Golshahr) and Jilin Town, and since we are not Constructor, one of these three plots must be approved by the specific specialized company of the Ministry of Health and experts from programming & Budget Organization and other capable institutions. Dr. Fazel also referred to the flood in Golestan and said: "With the cooperation of health personnel and other organization, despite the fact that Golestan was affected by flood for 40 days, we did not experience any epidemic of the disease in this province and due to this fact, we were praised by the ministry of Health".  

The first National Congress on Sexual Health - Reproduction and Counseling in Midwifery started with participants from all over the country in the late Falsafi higher educational complex. It started in the morning with delivering speech by Dr. Honarvar, Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology,    It is worth mentioning that this program was held in the past years as a conference and seminar, But now for the first time first time it is being held as a national congress hosted by Golestan University of Medical Sciences. The Congress will focus on reproductive health in crisis - reproductive health rights and law - pregnancy and childbirth and complementary medicine - counseling and sexual health, reproductive - cancers of breast and reproductive system - boredom gender (Gender dysphoria) for 2 days Morning and afternoon will continue with the presence of panel members and participants from all over the country while an article in the hall of the higher educational complex of the late Falsafi was presented.

The Third National Congress on Children's Respiratory Diseases was held with participants from all over the country attending the Fasafi Higher Education Complex. The National Congress on Respiratory Diseases for Children with was held with the participation of Dr. Fazel University chancellor, Dr. Arefnia's Health Deputy, Dr. Rostamani chief of the security office of the University and other Department of Health Management & officials and participants from across the country at the Falsafi Higher Medical Education Complex of Golestan University. National Congress on Pediatric Respiratory Diseases Hosted by Golestan University of Medical Sciences Nebulizer Therapy - Asthma in Children - Pleural Diseases - Lung Infections - Intensive Care - Cystic Lung Diseases - Cystic Fibrosis and Bronchiectasis in Children and Adults – attending to Acute and chronic coughing patients & etc. The lecture was held for two days in the morning and afternoon with panel members and participants from all over the country with presenting the posters.

In order to advance the health goals of the Golestan province, the third joint conference of the university and the Golestan province prosecution was held, attended by Hojatoleslam Sayed Hosseini, the provincial central prosecutor, Dr. Fazel the head of the university, the head of the provincial government, provincial city prosecutors, university board members, Health network administrators and hospital chiefs. The event was held at the university's Martyr Avini Conference hall. Speaking at the conference, Dr. Fazel, the head of the university, presented a report on the state of the university in the field of health. According to the province's population of 1 million 900 thousand people, including 25 public and private hospitals in the province, are providing health services, out of this 25 Hospitals 16 Governmental hospitals and 607 Health care Homes, 197 Health care Centers where physicians and medical practitioners provide valuable services to the discerning people of the province. Dr. Fazel said: "We are trying to cover all the health problems in the province, and holding these meetings could be a turning point in future interactions between the university and the province's supervisory units and lessen the problems of people and patients in needs." Provincial Prosecutor Hojatoleslam Sayyed Hosseini also emphasized the health sector, is an important area and one of the factors that contribute to community growth and development is the health issue that will contributes to security in the country while if community health is compromised, that community also will be at risk, so he emphasize that, the health of everyone, and the more activities and doing the right things in this area, the more effective and useful the community will be. Dr. Kabir, Senior Advisor to the President of the University, said: "Our standard is people's health and the basic criterion of health should not be compromised. This meeting can be a coordination and cooperation between us and the monitoring department, while we must meet our standards In order not to be harmed Following the conference, each of the university's deputy provincial and district prosecutors presented a report on health and judicial measures and barriers.  

The Fifth General English Language Testing of the Ministry of Health was held electronically at the Golestan University of Medical Sciences Electronic Testing Center. Dr. Kamran Heidari, director of the exam area, noted that 50 volunteers took part in the test, and the process was completed successfully.

Simultaneous of the research week, the Office of Development and Coordination of the Scientific Journals of the University was opened with the presence of the President of the University. While Mr. Msssoud Mohammadi elaborating the problems of each journals, addressed the benefits of setting up a journal office, reforming the journal structure, indexing journals into credible indexes, synergizing collaborative activities, empowering staff, integrating journals' websites and article structures.

The second specialized management training course for Provincial Organ Transplantation was held with the participation of Dr. Katayoun Najafizadeh, President of the Iranian Donor Association, Dr. Fazel, President of the University, a group of government administrators and university administrators at the campus.  During this training, Dr. Fazel, the head of the university, stated that organ donation is a sensitive issue in the community and pointed out that culture in the field of organ transplantation in Iran is not old and has been practiced in the country for about 20 years. Dr. Fazel said that there are 16,000 deaths from accidents in the country annually, of which 5 to 8,000 suffer brain stroke, while only fewer than 1,000 are donated in the country. Dr. Fazel continued that there are currently 25,000 patients in need of a transplant in the country, while one brain death patient can save one to eight people from death. Dr. Fazel said he hoped to donate to patients in need in the culture community. Continuing this training, Dr. Katayoun Najafizadeh, president of the Iranian Society for organ Donation, said 25,000 people are waiting for organ transplants in Iran, while 99 percent of deaths are cardiac deaths, and only one percent constitute brain death. It is possible to donate an organ that can save Their life from imminent death. The head of the Iranian Association of Body organ Donors, saying that Iran is ranked 37th in the world for organ donation, noted that one to seven people in need of organ donation die nationwide because of a lack of donation.

Dr. Gholamreza Roshandel, director of research and technology and a member of the university's faculty, was selected as the top research group in the Clinical and Health Research Committee at the 25th Razi Festival. The Vice President of Research and Technology of Ministry of Health and Academic committee congratulates Dr. Roshandel on this success.  

The second Golestan province health congress was held with the aim of promoting health literacy and cancer prevention with the participation of Dr. Haqhshenas, the governor of Golestan province, Dr. Akhavan, responsible for organizing health ministries of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Fazel, and a number of provincial and university officials. "If it is not mental, physical and mental, it will lead to a decline in performance and we must admit that part of our society has a health problem. He continued: Health literacy is very important, which is very low among our people and for example in the issue of nutrition our health literacy is poor. "We need to change our health behavior so that our society changes over time and people's health literacy increases," said Dr. Haghshanas. He said: Golestan province can be the pilot of cancer prevention in the country and I hope this will happen because of its background in the province. He noted: NGOs should communicate with the provincial medical system and governors are required to cooperate with NGOs. Dr. Fazel, the university's president, said there was no talk of a tsunami of cancer in the country at the moment;   He said the most common cancers in the province were breast, intestinal, gastric, lung, esophageal, blood and prostate cancers, respectively, and said that the incidence of cancer in men was somewhat higher than in women in Golestan province. "Early detection of cancer can greatly help to cure it, which requires the cooperation of all organizations and institutions, especially NGOs, for the prevention and early detection of cancer," the university president said. Dr. Akhavan, head of the NGOs Committees of the Ministry of health said: Golestan province is the second province in the country to hold the forum, a sign of the province's determination and empathy for health officials. Emphasizing that we all need to feel more responsible, he urged all organizations and NGOs to help health authorities. Dr. Kabir, the vice-president of the university, also emphasized the purposeful cooperation of health NGOs with the University of Medical Sciences. He added that utilizing people's participation in the health sector can be seen as an important strategy in the health sector and said: "We need to use people's capacity to improve health."
