Accommodation & Housing

Accommodation & Housing There are two options for finding suitable housing during your studies in Iran: Student accommodation and private/independent accommodation. We highly recommend that you first contact the international office of your university to check their options available for student accommodation as they may have lower rent costs than private accommodation. Student Accommodation: Most Iranian universities offer a student residence hall (dormitory) or a building including student flats to international students. Most dormitories and flats have furnished double rooms with a shared kitchen, bathroom and living/television room. There are also shared laundry facilities for both dormitories and flats. Female and male students have separate buildings, and, for married students, universities may offer couples dormitories or make special arrangements for couples to reside in similar establishments. Although rooms are usually furnished, you may need to provide your own blankets, pillows, sheets, and some kitchen utensils. It is highly recommended to check everything beforehand through the website of your university to be well-prepared. However, rest assured that you can find all required items for a student life in all urban areas and cities in Iran. Private Accommodation: To rent a flat or a room in a flat, please contact the international office of your university to assist you to find a suitable place. After finding a place of your desire, you need to sign a contract which normally covers the length of the rental, the monthly rent, and whatever detail you and your landlord agreed on.  Please bear in mind that you should always ask to see the identification of the landlord and carefully compare it with the information written on the contract which is going to be signed. Never transfer money before you have seen the flat and signed the contract. In case of doubt, do not hesitate to ask your university’s international office for assistance. For foreign nationals, it may not be possible to sign a rental contract. In such cases, you may need a trusted Iranian national to act on your behalf.
