The Latest News of the International Campus :  Meeting of Golestan University of Medical Sciences Strategic Internationalization Committee

The nineteenth meeting of the Strategic Committee for Internationalization of Golestan University of Medical Sciences was held on 11 June of this year in the field of education with the presence of committee members.
 
Dr. Nafiseh Abdollahi, Secretary of the University Internationalization Committee, emphasized that the Internationalization Committee should be formed with the aim of integrating international affairs in the university and the vision of this committee covers all areas of the university and now the university needs to meet the English site that significant measures in this regard have been taken by the English system promotion team of the university and the information technology department of the university.

The Latest News of the International Campus : University President's field visit to the process of providing health services in the flooded areas of Golestan Edit Content | Posted on: 25 march 2019

Dr. Fazel, President of the University, together with Dr. Mizbani, Inspection Department of the Ministry of Health for the second time after the flood, visited the process of providing health services in the flooded areas.
During a visit to Aq Qala Hospital, Dr. Fazel said in an interview with the university's website: "80 percent of the capacity of the beds in Aq Qala hospitals is intended to be ready to serve the victims."
He said: "Fortunately, we do not have any shortage in terms of the specialized medical and pharmaceutical team, and the health care providers are providing services with strength."
Dr. Fazel, President of the University, while visiting the field hospitals of the Revolutionary Guards and the Army, described the process of providing services of these hospitals to the victim was very satisfactory and said: "The cooperation of the Armed Forces in the field of health is excellent and has been well received."

A crisis management meeting is being held in the presence of the university's crisis management team at the Gonbad Special Governorate
I consider it is my duty, deeply sympathize with people of Aq ghala, Gomishan and Gonbad. The President of Golestan University of Medical Sciences said in this meeting:
Dr. Fazel added: "In the field of health in the province, we have worked with the people until the end of this flood crises so that at least a little of the people's suffering in the field of health is reduced."
The deputy governor and special governor of Gonbad city also said: "Fortunately, thanks to God, despite the heavy floods, we did not have a single case of casualties in Gonbad city."
Mr. Karimi added: "With the efforts of our dear people and proper management of the city's crisis management team, we were able to control the flooding from the city within 48 days, except for the police stereet, Arvandrud and Imam Reza streets in which after 72 houres all area of the city was cleared of water.
The director of Gonbad Health Network also provided a complete report on the performance of the city's crisis committee.
Dr. Badiei said: 13 areas in the city were flooded and emergency accommodation was planned in four parts of the city.
He added that the population affected by the floods in the city was 57,000 in the city and 29,000 in the rural area.
Dr. Badiee stated: The cases of diarrhea in the city were controlled and the colleagues of the prevention and environmental health units worked 24 hours a day, and the colleagues of the hospitals also cooperated very well in this field.

However, the significant increase in precipitation since the beginning of the Iran’s New Year in some provinces of the country, especially Golestan province, has created serious problems for compatriots due to floods and river overflows.

Your sincere and unwavering efforts of Your Excellency and your esteemed colleagues in all relevant areas of health care to reduce the damage caused by this natural disaster were evident in my visit to those areas and meeting with the affected people.
Therefore, I would like to express my gratitude and thanks to you for the readiness, sincerer efforts and active presence of your Excellency, deputies, managers and all colleagues and those involved in serving the injured compatriots, and I ask God Almighty for you and your colleagues more success
.

The International Congress of New Cancer in the presence of prominent professors from China, Italy and France began with a speech by Dr. Fazel, President of Golestan University of Medical Sciences, in the Social Hall of the Falsafi Educational Complex.
While welcoming and congratulating the audience and sympathy with the flood victims, the president of the university presented a report on the scientific and research situation of the university in the field of cancer.
He added; currently, 120 foreign students are studying in the Faculty of International Campus of the University in different fields of medicine
He continued; the incidence of gastrointestinal and lung cancer has increased somewhat in the last decade, and fortunately esophageal cancer, which once upon on time was the center of this type of cancer in the world, has decreased.
The president of the university clarified; very good measures have been taken in the field of cancer diagnosis and treatment in Golestan in recent years.
The president of the university stated that breast cancer screening is being carried out in three cities of Gorgan, Gonbad and Aliabad, and on this basis, mammography in Gonbad and CT scan has been launched in Aliabad Katoul. He added; there is a good relationship with the benefactors in the discussion of treatment and palliative support, and we appreciate and thank these loved ones.
He concluded by saying that the purpose of the congress was to educate people about cancer prevention and treatment. It is worth mentioning that the International Congress of New Cancer and Gastrointestinal Cancer is being held in Golestan from the 1st to the 3rd of May 2019 with the presence of prominent European and foreign professors.

 Dr. Mohammad Naeemi Tabiee, Deputy Director of Management and Resources Development and Executive Secretary of the International Congress of Gastrointestinal Cancers in Golestan Province, in an exclusive interview with the website of the University, said that the International Congress of Gastrointestinal Cancers, this congress will be hosted by Golestan University of Medical Sciences in 3 days from the 11th to the 13th of May.

He added; the latest findings on early detection and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers are being discussed by domestic and foreign philosophers at the congress. He continued; the congress is attended by 200 cancer specialists from four countries: China, France, Italy and Canada, as well as participants from different provinces of the country.
The Executive Secretary of the Congress stated; among the research papers submitted to the Congress Secretariat, 8 papers will be presented as lectures and the rest as research posters.
Dr. Naeemi also spoke about the positive effects of this congress for the province's doctors; More than 150 physicians from the province specialize in gastroenterology, radiology, pathology, surgery and cancer surgery, radiotherapy and hematology and oncology all of them at the congress have an active presence.

The International Congress of recent advance Cancer in the presence of prominent professors from China, Italy and France began with a speech by Dr. Fazel, President of Golestan University of Medical Sciences, in the Social Hall of the Late Falsafi Educational Complex.
While welcoming and congratulating the professor's day, sympathizing with the flood victims, the president of the university presented a report on scientific and research situation of the university in the field of cancer.
He added that currently 120 foreign students are studying at the Faculty of International Campus of the University in different fields of medicine.
He continued, "The incidence of gastrointestinal and lung cancer has increased somewhat in the last decade, and fortunately, esophageal cancer, which was once the center of this type of cancer in the world, has decreased."
The president of the university stated that in recent years very good measures have been taken in cancer diagnosis and treatment in Golestan.

These include the collection and publication of the results of cancer research in the form of a book, the National Cancer Registration Program, and the Cohort Study Center, has resulted Golestan University of Medical Sciences to lead in cancer registration in the country.
He continued that the Cancer Biobank project at Sayad Shirazi Hospital is one of the cases in which storage samples can make a significant contribution to the progress in the field of cancer treatment.
The president of the university stated that breast cancer screening is being carried out in three Golestan cities namely Gorgan, Gonbad and Aliabad, and based on this, mammography has been set up in Gonbad and CT scan has been set up in Aliabad Katol.

Dr. Reza Malekzadeh, Deputy Minister of Research and Technology of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education at the International Congress on new advance Cancer and Gastrointestinal Cancer, hosted by Golestan University of Medical Sciences, with the presence of international professors said: Golestan province has started since year 2000 and is one of the research studies that will continue until the next twenty years, and we can say that it is the largest study of Cohort in the Middle East.
He added, "Currently, we are conducting these studies throughout Iran, the initial core of which has started from Golestan province. We would like to thank the professors and faculty members of Golestan University and the people of the region for their worthy cooperation".
He said that international scientific cooperation is one of the methods that can be introduced to the world, adding that effective international cooperation with the world countries has been done in the discussion in Cohort studies of cancer and its findings.
Dr. Malekzadeh continued that studies conducted before the revolution in Golestan region showed the highest prevalence of esophageal cancer in this region, but fortunately after the revolution, with the improvement of the economic and social situation of the people, esophageal cancer significantly decreased in Golestan.
He mentioned low consumption of vegetables, hot tea and drinks, lack of oral hygiene, opium consumption and air pollution as causes gastrointestinal cancer and said that by performing some interventions and observing hygienic principles, can be largely helpful in prevention of GI cancer.

The Deputy Minister of Research and Technology of the Ministry of Health continued; 50,000 people are under continuous research studies in Golestan Cohort studies.
He also stressed that, unfortunately, 5% of the world's opium is consumed in Iran, and 20% of people over the age of 40 consume opium for entertainment, which plays a significant role in the spread of gastrointestinal cancer.
It is worth mentioning that the International Congress of recent advance Cancer and Gastrointestinal Cancer is being held in Golestan from the 11th to the 13th of Ordibehesht with the presence of prominent European and foreign professors.
