Abstract
Background & Objective: Hemodialysis patients quality of life is a significant subject. Style of coping or adjustment among hemodialysis patients is a complicated problem that affects the quality of life status. Responses domain to these problems are different from readjustment to suicide. The object of this study was to determine the relationship between quality of life and copings the problem, which were applied by hemodialysis patients. Materials & Methods: This is a descriptive analytical and correlational study. The study has been done in hospitals of Gorgan, Gonabad and Bandar Torkaman cities. The data were collected using a questionnaire with likert scale (From 1 to 5). Sample population was 167 patients. Results: The results showed that 89 patients were male, 78 patients female, 25.74% between 35-44 years old and hemodialysis of duration of 114 patients was more than 4 years. The quality of life mean score and standard deviatior were respectively 89.58, 8.13. About 75.42% of patient’s quality of life were moderate. The emotional and problem focused strategies were used in moderate way by the hemodialysis patients. Statistic tests between quality of life and emotional focused coping was significant (P<0.05). In general there are relationship between quality of life and total coping (P<0.05). Conclusion: According to study, we conclude that emotional focused coping and total coping influence the quality of life of hemodialysis patients. Therefore hemodialysis patients must be educated and supported, to cope with the problems.

Abstract
Background&Objective: Dyspnoea and fatigue caused considerable impairment in the functional performance and quality of life in HF patients. The purpose of this study were to determine efficacy of home walking exercise program on functional performance and quality of life in patients with heart failure. Materials&Methods: This study was qusiexperimental trial that assessed efficacy of home-based exercise program on the functional performance and quality of life in patients with HF in the Ahvaz city (2005). In this study 60 patients with New York Heart Association (NYHA) class II and III heart failure divided two groups training (n=30) and control (n=30). Material or measurements was demographic characteristics form, Minnesota quality of life check list and timed exercise program form. Exercise training in the patients would be performed tree day per week for 8 weeks. Determination quality of life measures by Minnesota check list would be performed in both the training and control groups at entry and after 8 weeks. Also 6 minute walking tests for determination functional performance would be performed in both groups at entry and after 8 weeks. Ultimately data analysis by SPSS softward. Results: results showed that significant difference existed between mean walking distance on the 6MWT at entry and after 8 weeks in the training group (373.86 to 412.30 m, P<0.05), that no significance was seen between control group (376.79 to 377.63 m). Also significant difference exists between mean quality of life scores at entry and after 8 weeks in the training group (52.32 to 43.80), that no significance was seen between control group (52.43 to 52.50). Conclusion: This study showed that home-based exercise program affected on functional performance and quality of life in HF patients. Its accepted. Therefore exercise training can be used as a therapeutic approach in these patients, because not only promotes quality of life but also improve the functional performance.

Abstract
Background and Objective: Osteoarthritis is the most common joint disease and associated with degeneration of the joint cartilage. Its high prevalence, particulary in the elderly, and the high rate of disability related to disease make it a leading cause of disability. The symptoms of osteoarthritis are pain, morning stiffness and joint limited motion. This study was carired out to compare the effects of physical modalities and home based exercise training on symptoms and function of knee osteoarthritis. Materials and Methods: In this randomized clinical trial study, fourty patients with knee osteoarthritis according to the American college of rheumatology (ACR) criteria randomly divided into two treatment groups. The physical modality group (A) received TENS, US and Hot pack at pain areas. The exercise group (B) received isometric exercise of the knee. Each group received 3 treatment sessions per week for 4 weeks. Evaluating measuring tools were pain intensity (based on Visual Analogue Scale: VAS) and function was measured with koos questionnare. Results: Improvement in pain, quality of life, symptoms, sports and reduction, in pain intensity on VAS in the physical modality group after treatment were seen (P<0.05). Also significant improvement in symptoms and quality of life observed in the exercise group. Improvement in activity of daily life found in the physical modality group in comparison with exercise group (P<0.05). Conclusion: This study showed that physical modality and exercise training reduce pain and improve quality of life, activity of daily life and sport in patients with the same rate. While activity of daily life improve more in physical modality method.

Abstract
Background and Objective: Asthma is the most prevalent chronic disease during childhood and it is estimated that 4.8 million children involved in asthma all over the world and its prevalence and incidence is increasing. The aim of this study was to identify the peak-flow meter application on quality of life in asthmatic children. Materials and Methods: This clinical trial study was done on 80 asthmatic children between 7 to 15 years old which referred to Shahid Beheshti hospital clinic in Kashan, Iran during 2009. Susan Sylvia questionnaire included 3 parts, was filled for every child. The questions in any section had three options in which there were 5 items in activity limitation, 13 questions in symptoms and 6 questions in emotional functions. Every question had 1 to 3 points and whole questionnaire taken 23 to 69 points. The children were learnt to measure their PEFR (Peak Expiratory Flow Rate) 3 times a day using Peak flow meter device and upon the results, the management procedure was changed. After 3 months the outcome were evaluated and data analyzed by SPSS-15 and paired t-test. Results: Mean age of patients was 8.82±2.75 years old. Thirty three subjects (41.3%) were girl. The average score in emotional functions was 13.1±3.07 before and 14.35±3.7 after using peak-flow meter (P<0.05). The average score in activity limitation was 7.33±1.57 and 8.47±0.67 before and after using peak-flow meter, respectively (P<0.05). The average score in symptoms before and after pek-flow meter was 28.81±5.13 and 32.02±5.62, respectively (P<0.05). Finally total score of quality of life showed significant increase in children after using peak-flow meter (P<0.05). Conclusion: This study showed that the application of pek-flow meter increase emotional functions, decrease limitation of activity and symptoms in asthmatic children. Therefore, it is suggested pek-flow meter dievice taking into account in asthma management of asthmatic patients particularly in children.

Abstract
Background and Objective: The Problems caused by diabetes have direct and indirect impacts on quality of life of diabetic patients. By increasing of these problems quality of life of patients will decrease. This study was done to assess the effect of the educational program based on PRECEED (predisposing reinforcing enabeling causes educational diagnosis evaluation) model in promoting quality of life of patients with typeII diabetes.
Materials and Methods: This pre- and post-intervention quasi-experimental study was conducted on 78 patients with type 2 diabetes referred to diabetes clinic in Minoodasht located in Golestan province of Northern Iran. The educational program based on PRCEDE Model and patients educational needs was designed. The data were collected using two questionnaires. life-quality WHOQOL- BREF questionnaire and PRCEDE Model-based educational questionnaire. The subjects were followed for one month after intervention to identify the role of educational intervention on patients. The data was analyzed by using SPSS-16 and Paired t-test.
Results: After the intervention, the mean score of quality of life increased from 80.39±11.35 to 81.35±8.31. No significant difference was existed in the total score of quality of life after intervention but there were significant differences in the physical health (P<0.05), self-evaluation of quality of life of patients (P<0.01) and self-assessment of health of patients after educational intervention.
Conclusion: This study showed that the educational program based on PRECEDE model was effective in improving quality of life of patients with regard to physical health and self-assessment of their health status.

Abstract
Background and Objective: Controversies results in quality of life associated with the type of delivery have been reported. This study was performed to determine the relationship between Women’s Quality of life and type of delivery.
Materials and Methods: This descriptive analytical study was conducted on 300 women that referring to health center in kashan city during 2007-08. The women were divided in two groups according to the type of delivery whether it was cesarean section or vaginal delivery. Special life quality questionnaire, 2 and 4 months after delivery was completed by women. Scores of aspects in 2 and 4 months after delivery were determined and compared between two groups. Data was analyzed by SPSS-16 software, Chi-Square, independent t- test, pair t test and Mann- U Whitey test.
Results: Findings showed no differences in aspects of quality of life between cesarean section and normal delivery groups except in “Mother's satisfaction toward delivery” that results showed higher score 2 months (p=0.03) and 4 months (p=0.018) after normal delivery. Scores of this aspect in 2 months after normal delivery and cesarean section was (4.40±1.11, 3.76±1.16) and in 4 months after normal delivery and cesarean section was (4.13±1.40, 3.82±1.22) respectively.
Conclusion: This study showed there was not significant difference in women quality of life between cesarean section and normal delivery 2 and 4 monthes after delivery.

Abstract
Background and Objective: The quality of life is advesly affected by type 2 diabetes as a serious metabolic disorder. This study was done to investigate the effect of aerobic training and drug intervention on quality of life in women with type 2 diabetes. Materials and Methods: In this randomized clinical trial study, 52 women with type 2 diabetes divided into four groups including aerobic training with full medicinal doses (group I), aerobic training with half medicinal doses (group II), full medicinal doses without training (group III) and half medicinal doses without training (group IV). Subjects in aerobic training groups participated in 8 weeks training program. Duration of each training session was 45 minutes from the beginning and increased gradually until 105 minutes. Full medicinal doses included Metformin (500 mg) and Glibenclamide (5 mg). Half medicinal doses included Metformin (250 mg) and Glibenclamide (2.5 mg), daily. Subjects without training, did not participate in any physical activities. Quality of life was assessed using SF-36 questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS-18, ANOVA and t dependent tests. Results: There was no significant difference regarding quality of life between groups at pre-test. After the intervention, the quality of life in group I significantly increased (P<0.05). In group II, all subscales of the quality of life increased however, only social function was significant (P<0.05). In group III, all subscales of the quality of life decreased however, physical function, emotional and pain were significant (P<0.05). In group IV, the quality of life significantly decreased (P<0.05). Conclusion: Aerobic training with full medicinal doses could improved the quality of life in women with type 2 Diabetes.

Abstract
Background and Objective: The first carpometacarpal joint osteoarthritis reduced the ability of upper limb in elderly with subsequent disability in physical activities. This study was carried out to determine the effect of prefabricated and custom-made splints on quality of life in the first carpometacarpal joint osteoarthritis. Materials and Methods: This quasi-experimental study was done on 24 elderly (>60 years of age) patients with the first carpometacarpal joint osteoarthritis and 12 matched healthy subjects in Tehran rehabilitation University during 2010-11. Patients assigned randomly in two groups with 8 weeks treatment period, prefabricated thumb and custom-made splints. Persian version of The Short Form 36 quastioner (SF36) was used to assess the quality of life. Data were analyzed using SPSS-16 and paired t-test. Results: There were significant differences between osteoarthritis patients and healthy subjects in the quality of life according to SF36 score physical health problem (P<0.05), general health (P<0.05), limitations of activities (P<0.05), emotional health problem (P<0.05), social activities (P<0.05), pain (P<0.05), energy and emotions (P<0.05). Using splints significantly improved the quality of life of patients, but there was no significant difference between two splints in improving the quality of life. Abstract
Background and Objective: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is one of the most common gastrointestinal disorders characterized by abdominal pain or discomfort and altered bowel habits. Although IBS etiology is poorly understood, some psychological disturbances and food allergies have been proposed. This study was done to determine the effect of food allergen exculsion on symptoms and quality of life in IBS. Materials and Methods: In this descriptive and anolytical study was done on 100 IBS patients in Tabriz, Iran during 2011. Food allergies of specific origin and effects of non allergic regimens on quality of life, pain severity and disease symptoms were evaluted during one month period. Data were analyzed using SPSS-16, student’s t-test, Chi-Square and Fisher’s exact tests. Results: Patients age were 31.5±7.2 between 15-43 years. Specific antibodies against allergic foods were detectable in 31 (31%) cases. Penaut showed to induce the highest food allergy in 5 (16.1%) patients. The median disease duration was 4.5±2.6 years in allergic patients while 3.5±2.9 in non allergic group with no significant difference. The changes is quality of life was significant in non allergic regimens after one month in allergic group (P<0.05) while disease symptoms such as mucus defecation and flatulence had no significant changes. Conclusion: This study showed that one month non allergic regimens reduce abdominal pain and improve quality of life in IBS patients.

Abstract
Background and Objective: Disclosure of cancer is one the main challenges in caring of patients with cancer, since it may have adverse effects on the patients quality of life. This study was done to determine life quality of cancer patient with or without self awareness. Materials and Methods: This case – control study was conducted on 300 cancer patients in Shahid Ghazi-Tabatabaei hospital in Tabriz, Iran during 2009. The cancer patients included 150 subjects aware of their cancer diagnosis as cases and 150 unaware patients as controls. The patient's quality of life was assessed Using EORTC QLQ-C30 questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS-17 and student’s t-test. Results: The mean±SD of quality of life among aware and unaware patients were 64.18±18.85 and 65.16±19.02, respectively. There was no significant difference of quality of life between two groups. Life social dimension in unaware patients significantly was more than aware patients (P<0.05). Conclusion: Patients awareness of cancer have no effect on their quality of life.

Abstract
Background and Objective: Cognitive behavioral therapy based on religion can increase the religious mind. This study was done to evaluate the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy based on religion on depression and quality of life in patient with HIV/AIDS.
Methods: In this quasi -experimental study with pretest, post test and follow up with control group, 30 patients with HIV were non-randomly divided into intervention and control groups. Patients in intervention group were received 12 sessions of cognitive behavioral therapy based on religion, but patients in control group did not receive any intervention. Beck depression test (BDI-II) and quality of life questionnaire (WHOQOL-Brief) were used.
Results: The rate of depression in intervention group significantly reduced in compared to controls (P<0.05). The rate of quality of life significantly increased in intervention group in comparision with controls group (P<0.05). These results significantly persisted after follow- up period (P<0.05).
Conclusion: The cognitive behavioral therapy based on religion is effective on decrease of depression and increase of quality of life in patients with HIV/AIDS.

Abstract
Background and Objective: Changing of lifestyle in women and increasing their social activity especially in working places can affect women’s sexual quality of life (SQOL). This study was done to determine the affecting factors on sexual quality of life among hospital employee's women.
Methods: This descriptive - analytical study was carried out on 121 women who work in the two hospitals in Sabzevar city and Birjand city in Iran during 2014. Data was collected using two questionnaires including the Iranian version of sexual quality of life-female (SQOL-F) questionnaire and a researcher-made measure to assess demographic characteristics, health related, and work-related variables.
Results: The mean±SD score of SQOL-F was 80.1±19.7. The univariate analysis showed that the mean score of SQOL-F significantly related with age (P<0.05), duration of sleep (P<0.05), marital duration (P<0.05), educational level (P<0.05), and physical activity (P<0.05). The regression modeling indicated that educational level (β=0.33), marital duration (β=0.32) and quality of sleep (β=0.56) were predictors of SQOL-F scores.
Conclusion: This study showed that educational level, marital duration and quality of sleep were predictors of SQOL-F scores among hospital employee's women.

Abstract
Background and Objective: The elderly population is rising rapidly in the world and one of the criteria for assessing the needs and health of the elderly is life quality. Mindfulness is a kind of consciousness, and it comes about when we encounter our experiences with a more precise and detailed in the present and without judgment. This study was done to determine the effect of mindfulness training on personal well-being and mental health in elderly women.
Methods: This quasi-experimental study was done on 46 elderly women over 60 years of age who displaced in the only daily nursing home in Gorgan, northern Iran .The subjects were non-randomly divided into the intervention and control groups. The intervention group participated in eight sessions of two-hour mental education training. Personal information questionnaire, general health questionnaire-28 (GHQ-28) and personal well-being index – adult (PWI-A). PWI-A and mental health questionnaires were completed by the elderly at the beginning and the end of the study.
Results: In the intervention group, mindfulness education significantly increased the subscale of personal well-being in the post-test (57.4±3.5) compared to the pre-test (43.2±10.6), and the subscale of mental health and its components in the post-test (13.47±5.5) compared to the pre-test (35.6±10.9) (P<0.05). In the control group, the subscales of personal well-being and mental health and its components at the prior and the end of the study was not different.
Conclusion: Mental education improves subscales of personal well-being and mental health in elderly women.

Abstract
Background and Objective: Parents of children with autism have difficulty in their daily activities and social relationships and have a low quality of life. The negative effect of having a low intelligence or disabled child is more likely to cause tension and pressure on mother than the other family members. This study was conducted to determine the quality of life of mothers with autism children compared to mothers with normal children.
Methods: This case-control study was performed on 36 mothers with autistic child and 114 mothers with healthy children in Gorgan (Iran) during 2015. Sampling was done randomly and the data gathering tool was SF-36 quality of life standard questionnaire.
Results: The quality of life of mothers with autistic child had a significant reduction in comparison with the quality of life of mothers with healthy child (P<0.05). Also, items of quality of life including general health, social function, and role limitation due to psychological, emotional and physical functioning in the group of mothers with autistic children were significantly lower than mothers with healthy ones (P<0.05).
Conclusion: Mothers with autistic children had low quality of life. Therefore, it is recommended to design suitable programs for improving the health status and quality of life as a priority of health care plans.

Abstract
Background and Objective: Chronic itching reduces the quality of life of patients undergoing hemodialysis. This study was done to determine the effect of chronic itching on the quality of life of patients under hemodialysis in north of Iran.
Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study, 111 patients with mean age of 58.36±12.7 years were randomly selected from hemodialysis centers of Golestan province from May to December 2017. Demographic data, quality of life (Itchy QOL questionnaire), Xerosis, pruritus intensity (Balaskas 1998), and laboratory tests including calcium, phosphorus, alkaline phosphatase, parathyroid hormone, blood urea nitrogen, creatinine, hemoglobin and hematocrit were evaluated.
Results: The mean score of itching severity and overall quality of life was 29.27±7.46 and 41.4±10.44, respectively. There was a significant correlation between the severity of itching and the overall score of patients' quality of life (P<0.05). Correlation between severity of pruritus with symptom dimension, functional dimension and emotional dimension was significant (P<0.05). There was a significant correlation between severity of itching and Xerosis and serum calcium level (P<0.05). There was a significant correlation between Xerosis and calcium level with increased itching (P<0.05).
Conclusion: Itching reduced the quality of life in hemodialysis patients in north of Iran.

Abstract
Background and Objective: There is a corolation between meta-cognitive beliefs and psychological adaptability. The subjects with adaptability beliefs have more soci-psyclogical adaptability. Diabetes has a negative impact on the quality of life. Therefore, this study was done to determine the relationship between meta-cognitive beliefs and adaptability with quality of life in type 2 of diabetic patients.
Methods: This descriptive correlation study was done on 100 type 2 diabetic patients (60 males, 40 females) whom refered to association of diabetes center in Tehran, Iran during 2016. They were selected by network sampling method. Data collection was done by Wales and Cartwright Hatton (2004) Meta-cognitive beliefs, Bell's (1961) adjustment and ware and quality of life (1996) questionnaires.
Results: There was a positive and significant relationship between metacognitive beliefs (r=0.756) with quality of life (P<0.05). In addition, there was a significant relationship between adaptability (r=-0.917) with quality of life (P<0.05). The results of sub-scales of metacognitive beliefs showed that the strongest predictor of adjustment and quality of life is the component of positive beliefs about worry, and then the components beliefs about superstition, punishment and responsibility associated with worry and beliefs about uncontrollability of worrying and about the dangers of failing to control worrying, respectively, had a good predictor role.the severity of diabetes significantly reduced the qulity of life (P<0.05).
Conclusion: Metacognitive beliefs and compatibility can affect the quality of life in diabetic patients.

Abstract
Background and Objective: Schizophrenia is a chronic disease associated with considerable impairments to personal life and social functions. Since exercise plays an important role in these problems, this study was done to compare the effect of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and futsal training on body composition, physical fitness, life quality, and negative symptoms in schizophrenics.
Methods: This clinical trial was performed on 42 male patients with paranoid schizophrenia in Rasht Medical Center in north of Iran during 2017. Patients were randomly assigned into three groups of HIIT (n=15), futsal (n=12) and control (n=15) groups. Data were collected before and after 8 weeks of training using quality of life questionnaire, negative symptoms assessment and some factors of physical fitness tests. HIIT program (high-intensity interval training: HIIT) was held three sessions a week with 70 to 85% of maximal heart rate and futsal training lasted three sessions a week for 40 minutes.
Results: Anaerobic power was significantly more in HIIT and futsal groups in compatre to controls (P<0.05), but anaerobic power was not significantly different between HIIT and futsal groups. Lower limb muscle power was significantly higher in the HIIT and futsal groups compared to control group (P<0.05). Lower limb muscle power was higher in the HIIT group compared to the futsal group (P<0.05). Negative symptoms were significantly lower in HIIT and futsal groups in comparison with control group (P<0.05). The quality of life difference in futsal and HIIT groups was not significant in compared to the controls.
Conclusion: It seems that HIIT is more efficient than futsal exercises, but both types of training improve some factors of physical fitness and alleviate the negative symptoms among schizophrenics.

Abstract
Background and Objective: Depression is the most common psychiatric diagnosis. It causes major health problems. Women are more likely to develop depression than men. This study was done to investigate the effect of group mindfulness-based cognitive therapy on reducing depression and improving the quality of life of female students.
Methods: This quasi-experimental study was performed on 26 female students. Students non-randomly were divided into control and intervention groups. Students in intervention group were received the two periods (8 sessions, 2 hours at week) of training in mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. All the participants filled out Beck depression inventory II (BDI-II) and World Health Organization Quality of Life – BREF (WHOQOL-BREF) in perior and after the study.
Results: In the intervention group the mean and standard deviation of pre-test and post-test scores of BDI-II was 20.23±6.98 and 13.38±4.97, respectively (P<0.05). In the intervention group, mean and standard deviation of pre-test and post-test scores of WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire was 66.77±13.39 and 86.84±10.60, respectively (P<0.05). Also, the mean scores of post-test of quality of life in all subgroups items was significantly increased in compared to the pre-test in the intervention group (P<0.05).
Conclusion: Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy increases the quality of life and reduced depression in female students.

Abstract
Background and Objective: Gerotranscendence, as a component of spiritual health, influences their quality of life and adaptation to chronic diseases by creating meaning in life. It is an important approach to enhancing the dimensions of aging health. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between gerotranscendence and quality of life in the elderly with cancer.
Methods: This descriptive-analytical study was performed on 200 older adults with cancer who were selected from Firouzgar and Rasool Akram medical centers in Tehran, Iran, during 2021. The checklist of demographic characteristics, the Gerotranscendence Scale (GTS), and the quality of life questionnaire (LEIPAD) were used.
Results: Gerotranscendence had a statistically significant relationship with marital status, level of education, employment status, housing status, type of cancer, and type of treatment (P<0.05). Age had a statistically significant negative correlation with the quality of life (r=-0.206). Gerotranscendence also had a statistically significant positive correlation with the dimensions of quality of life (r=0.221, P=0.002), including depression and anxiety (r=0.146, P=0.04), mental performance (r=0.167, P=0.018), social performance (r=0.266, P<0.001), and satisfaction with life (r=0.256, P<0.001).
Conclusion: Increasing gerotranscendence increases the quality of life of the elderly.

Abstract
Background and Objective: The quality of life of mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is influenced by the problems of this disorder. Numerous interventions have been recommended for mothers with such children, including supportive interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), negative mood management training, parent-child interaction, and family-oriented interventions. One of these interventions is quality of life therapy. The present study was conducted aiming to determine the impact of training quality of life therapy on mothers with ASD children.
Methods: This clinical trial was conducted on 60 mothers of 6-13-year-old ASD children referring to the Ofogh Clinic in the city of Gonbad-e-Kavus, Golestan Province, during 2022-23. Mothers were selected by the convenience sampling method and were assigned to two 30-people control and intervention groups using the random number table. The psychotherapy training based on Frisch’s (2006) theory on the quality of life was implemented on mothers in the intervention group as a group in eight 90-minute sessions for two months. The World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale (WHOQOL-BREF) was used to measure the mothers’ quality of life.
Results: The mean and standard deviation of the total quality of life score of mothers in the intervention group (76.15±8.85) had a statistically significant increase in the post-test compared to the control group (64.82±10.15) (P<0.05). Also, the mean and standard deviation of the quality of life of mothers in the intervention group showed a statistically significant increase in the post-test in the dimensions of physical health (65.12±6.24), psychological health (69.55±7.52), environmental health (60.66±16.8), and general health (78.33±10.9) compared to the control group (P<0.05).
Conclusion: The quality of life of mothers with autistic children was improved by receiving quality of life-based therapy.
