Abstract

Background&Objective: Iron deficiency is the most common nutritional disorder in the world, The prevalence rate in developing countries is higher than developed countries, and also affecting a large number of child and women. The main purpose of this study was to promot the knowledge, attitude and practice of girl student in Ghaemshahr in order to prevent iron deficiency anemia. Materials&Methods: This study was an educational intervention to evaluate the effect of education on Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (K.A.P) in intervention and control groups (each group: 300) among female students in Ghaemshahr. The data was gathered using a questionnaire (include the demographic information, some of question related to knowledge, attitude, practice. K.A.P were assessed before and also 1.5 month after implementation of educational program using the questionnaire, collected data was analyzed by SPSS (11.5), STATA (8.0). Results: There was not significant difference between K.A.P in study group before implementation of educational intervention, but there is a significant increase between K.A.P after interventional education in intervention group. Educational intervention was promoted knowledge mounting to 15 score, 5 score to promote attitude and 1.6 score to improve the practice. There was significant relation between mother education, father job with their knowledge and class with their attitude, also mother education with their practice. Conclusion: The results indicated that improvement of knowledge could prevent iron deficiency anemia, thus emphasis on the health education in adolescent age is necessary to promote K.A.P.

Abstract

Background and Objective: Glycodelin expression in normal and cancerous human breast tissue and its relation with age, tumor type, microscopic grade and metastasis to axillary lymph nodes recently were noticed. This study was done to evaluate the glycodelin expression in breast cancer. Methods: In this descriptive study, 96 Paraffin-embedded blocks of malignant breast cancer by immunohistochemistry method were considered to evaluate the expression of glycodelin. Patients age,tumor size, tumor type, microscopic grade and metastasis to axillary lymph nodes were recorded for each subject. Results: Glycodelin was found in 30.45% of invasive carcinoma of the breast with axillary lymph node metastasis. Glycodelin was expressed in 72.7% of carcinoma of the breast without lymph nodes metastasis (P<0.05). There was a significant relation between glycodelin expression with microscopic grade 1 of tumor and metastasis to less than 4 of lymph nodes (P<0.05). Conclusion: Glycodelin expression can be evidence for lack of axillary lymph node metastasis of breast cancer.

Abstract

Background and Objective: Eotaxin is a pre-inflammatory adipokinin secreted from adipose tissue that plays an important role in function regulating of adipose tissue. This study was done to determine the effect of high-intensity interval training on the gene expression of eotaxin in visceral adipose tissue and insulin resistance following metabolic syndrome in rats.
Methods: In this experimental study, 40 male Wistar rats (weight 180±20 gr) were selected and after 12 weeks of high-fat diet and the creation of the metabolic syndrome model were randomly divided into four groups including  control, metabolic syndrome, High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and metabolic syndrome with HIIT. Rats in the high-fat diet were subjected to a special diet (30 to 40% fat) for 12 weeks to develop a model of metabolic syndrome. HIIT consisted of 5 to 10 interval 1-minute intensive running on treadmill at 80 to 95% of maximum speed and in slow alternations at 55% of maximum speed for 8 weeks. Insulin resistance using HOMA-IR mode is considered as a basic factor for determining metabolic syndrome.
Results: The gene expression of eotaxin and insulin resistance in the metabolic syndrome group were significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05). Gene expression of eotaxin and insulin resistance was significantly lower in HIIT and metabolic syndrome with HIIT groups than the metabolic syndrome group (P<0.05). Also, the gene expression of eotaxin and insulin resistance was significantly lower in HIIT group than the metabolic syndrome with HIIT group.
Conclusion: It seems that HIIT may be an important factor in down-regulating eotaxin and insulin resistance in metabolic syndrome.

Abstract

Background and Objective: Type 2 diabetes is a common disease that could be prevented or managed with a healthy lifestyle. This study was conducted to determine the effects of self-healing with mindfulness-integrated cognitive behavior therapy on the health-promoting lifestyle profile of patients with type 2 diabetes.
Methods: This clinical trial was done on 45 patients with type 2 diabetes who had been referred to the Sedigeh Tahereh Clinic in Isfahan (Iran) in 2021. The patients were randomly divided into 3 groups of 15 patients: a control group, a self-healing group (first intervention) and a mindfulness-integrated cognitive behavior therapy group (second intervention). Interventions for each treatment were held as a weekly 90-minute online session. Posttest was After 12 sessions and three months after the test was followed up. The research tool was a health-promoting lifestyle profile questionnaire with nutrition, exercise, health responsibility, stress management, interpersonal support and self-fulfillment components. The questionnaire was filled out by each group after the 12 sessions and three months after the last session.
Results: Both the self-healing methods and the mindfulness-integrated cognitive behavior therapy increased the lifestyle scores of patients with type 2 diabetes compared to the control group (P<0.05), and the effect was maintained in both intervention groups in the follow-up phase. No difference was observed between the two treatment methods compared with the control group.
Conclusion: Self-healing and mindfulness-integrated cognitive behavior therapy is both effective in improving the health-promoting lifestyle profile of patients with type 2 diabetes.
